Oklahoma mom says medicinal marijuana could save daughter

KOCO
MIDWEST CITY, Okla. —An Oklahoma family is preparing to separate. They said moving their sick daughter to Colorado is the only way to save her life unless Oklahoma laws change.
Avagrace Spencer, 9, rides her bike, likes playing with her brothers and sisters and looks like a healthy child.
“Her highs are really, really good and her lows are really, really bad,” said he mother Virginia Spencer.
However, Avagrace could have less than a year to live due to an extremely rare condition. She was diagnosed with Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome.
“Basically she has two separate brain wave patterns going on,” Spencer said.
Avagrace’s entire brain is slowing down, meaning her organs aren’t working well. Her heart even has stopped beating five times in the last year.
She has seizures every day, some lasting hours at a time. Her family is desperate to find a way to stop them.
“We’ve already tried over 21 pharmaceuticals,” Spencer said.

Obama: Marijuana No More Dangerous Than Alcohol

The Huffington Post  |  By

With a majority of Americans now in favor marijuana legalization, President Barack Obama is now saying weed is no more dangerous to individuals’ health than alcohol.
In an interview with the New Yorker’s David Remnick published Sunday, Obama said while he believes marijuana is “not very healthy,” the drug isn’t as harmful as some insist.
“As has been well documented, I smoked pot as a kid, and I view it as a bad habit and a vice, not very different from the cigarettes that I smoked as a young person up through a big chunk of my adult life. I don’t think it is more dangerous than alcohol,” Obama told Remnick.
When asked if he believes marijuana is less harmful than alcohol, Obama said it is less damaging “in terms of its impact on the individual consumer.”

Bill Murray’s Thoughtful Reddit AMA: The War On Drugs Is A Failure, Waste Of Money

By Sarah Fruchtnicht

“People are realizing that the war on drugs is a failure,” he added, “that the amount of money spent, you could have bought all the drugs with that much money rather than create this army of people and incarcerated people. I think the terror of marijuana was probably overstated. I don’t think people are really concerned about it the way they once were. Now that we have crack and crystal and whatnot, people don’t even think about marijuana anymore, it’s like someone watching too many videogames in comparison. The fact that states are passing laws allowing it means that its threat has been over-exaggerated.”
